Under the direction of the Chief Deputy Clerk, the Clerk’s office serves all clients of Lorain County and is essential to the daily operations of the Court. Deputy Clerks are responsible for the following:

  • Accept filings
  • Issue summons
  • Schedule hearings
  • Prepare/Issue subpoenas
  • Prepare/Issue warrants
  • File-stamping, docketing and processing all paperwork
  • Maintain all court case files
  • Collection of Restitution, Court Costs and Fines
  • Record requests
  • Sealing/Expunging of records
  • A variety of other duties

These cases include:

  • Abuse/Neglect/Dependency
  • Child Support
  • Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor
  • Custody
  • Juvenile Delinquency and Unruly
  • Juvenile Traffic offenses
  • Paternity
  • Permanent Custody/Permanent Surrender
  • Visitation

The Juvenile Court also accepts filings for Grandparent Power of Attorney, as well as the Caretaker Authorization Affidavit. The Deputy Clerk may answer general questions but cannot complete any forms on behalf of parties, nor can they give legal advice.
